Best mascara ever?!?

Image
Apologies for not having written a blog post in a long time...I am a terrible blogger. I'm going to try and write them more regularly from now on. Fingers crossed. I thought I would get back into the routine by telling you about an amazing product which I recently found by accident. The waterproof mascara by Seventeen. I recently had to fly down to England in quite a rush and didn't want to pay all the extra on the budget airline I was flying with in order to get hold luggage. This meant that I didn't take a lot of luggage with me. I realise that with the cabin luggage liquid allowance, I probably could have bought lots of minis but 1. I didn't have a lot of time to find all of these cute little products and 2. I had never previously flown by myself and I didn't want to risk it. So, when I arrived I took a trip into Boots to stock up on essentials. However, I was staying in the countryside and this particular Boots was one of those ones that is just a basic pharmac

Nails of the day: Autumn Berry

Image
I have a dilemma. I can only have my nails painted at certain points in the week. I work in as bar staff and waitressing part time and having painted nails there is generally frowned upon as customers tend to dislike finding chips o nail polish in their food and/or drinks. However, for the other part of the week I am a professional performer. As part of this job title, I currently get paid to sing. I like to make an extra effort to look nice for this as people will be looking at me a lot and part of this is having my nails painted. Anyway, that long introduction was basically to let you know that I have painted my nails for this week. Here they are: I used Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in 'Pomegranate' on all my nails. I only needed one coat which was good as I was in a rush. I like this nail polish. I find that on me it tends to get less shiny fairly quickly (although maybe if I applied more coats this might improve :p) but I love the colour and think it is perfect for autumn. I

Autumn Make-Up Clear Out

Image
I love make-up. There is rarely a day when I can go out without wearing it (there have been times recently when I have been feeling brave and have decided to face the world au natural but this is very rare indeed and by go out I might going to the shops.) This is mostly due to the fact that my skin is not the nicest. I realise that piling more make-up on is not going to help but to make my skin any better I would probably have to stop using make-up for a long time and this is not going to happen. What a conundrum! Anyway, the point of this blogpost is that this has resulted in me having a lot of make-up (well...what I consider to be a lot of make-up, however, having watched make-up collection videos on Youtube I realise that my collection is quite small in comparison. However, I probably use about 30% of my make-up and the rest is just sitting in cases. So, this morning I felt like a clear out to get ready for the upcoming season. Let it be noted that a lot of my make-up was out of dat

'Never let the things you want, make you forget the things you have.'

Todays post is a short but cheesy one. Since graduating, I have been rather scared of what the future holds. Leaving full time education for the first time since the age of four, made me feel a little uncomfortable. I like seeing the same people every day and having a wee routine (this may seem strange considering the fact that I am a performer and no two days are ever the same. However, this week things have been looking up. I started two new jobs and I am no so scared anymore. I think at times when you feel a little frightened and unsettled, it is best to try and look at all the positives in your life. Either write them down or just take a minute to have a wee think about 5 good things in your life that you are grateful for. Here are my 5: 1. My family. They also support me in everything I do. There are many people who are starting a career in the performing arts whose parents don't support them. I know it must be scary for them and they may wish at times that I would

EOS Lip Balms

Image
Before my recent holiday to America, I had a mental shopping list written out of things I wanted to purchase. Things which aren't readily available on the UK. At the top of this list were EOS lip balms. I had seen you tubers and bloggers talking about them and wanted to try them out for myself. I ended up buying two (lemon drop and strawberry sorbet) and my sister also got one (summer fruit). This lovely yellow one is Lemon Drop. It smells strangely familiar-I think one of my first ever lip balms had a similar smell! It also has SPF 15 which was very handy when I was in 50 degrees Celsius heat! This is Summer Fruit. It's my sisters but it smells delicious so I am most certainly going to buy it next time. It smells like mango but not a harsh chemically mango scent like many mango lip balms I have tried tend to have. More of a fresh mango. I am rather jealous of my sister right now! :p This is strawberry sorbet. It smells exactly like strawberry laces. Yummy. EOS stands for Evo

Bath and Body Works-Mahogany Teakwood

Image
Unfortunately for all of us living in the UK, we do not have a Bath and Body Works store. (Or perhaps it's a good thing as if we did I would have no money but lots and lots of candles...) So, when I was in the states I had to pick up a few wee goodies. I made a trip to the Westfield San Francisco and when I saw Bath and Bodyworks, I grabbed a basket and ran around like a small child in a sweetie store. At the top of my list were these candles. I had heard that these smelt like Abercrombie Fierce (the lovely scent which you can smell when you walk into an Abercrombie and Fitch) and that is most certainly true. Unfortunately, the bigger candles were too heavy to bring home so I got the three minis instead. I have started burning one, and it is lasting fairly well. Also, it is really easy to light. (For some reason it takes me many attempts to light some of my other candles.) Walking into my room now fills me with great joy every time. Love, Fi x

Shoes of the day: Floral Toms

Image
I love my Toms. So much. I purchased these from Schuh before I went to Italy and have been wearing them constantly since. Why do I love them so much? 1. They are so comfy. I have worn them lots when travelling and my feet have never become sore no matter how long I've walked. 2. They are easy to just slip off. No faffing about at airport security when I needed to remove my shoes and I could easily take them off when I got on the plane too. 3. They look so cute. I nearly got the cream with pink flowers version and I'm glad I didn't because I think they would have got filthy very quickly. These ones go with a lot. 4. Most importantly in my opinion their motto is 'One for One' for every pair of shoes purchased, Toms give a pair to a child in need in over 50 countries. When doing my research for this blog, I also learnt that when you buy a pair of Toms glasses, they give glasses, fund surgery or medical treatment for someone in need. Amazing. I love this company. USA!

Image
Sorry for the lack of blog posts recently...I just got back from a road trip in America and Wifi was few and far between. This was my last official family holiday so we made it a big one-starting off in Las Vegas and ending up in San Diego. San Francisco, Las Vegas and Disney were my favourite places but Death Valley was an interesting experience. Walking about in 50 degrees Celsius heat which didn't cool down till about 11pm was certainly different from the weather in Scotland! Disney will always be my favourite place on earth and it was my first time visiting the Californian one. It was very interesting seeing the original park and Indiana Jones was definitely my favourite ride! I won't ruin it in case you haven't even on it before but the ending is spectacular and apparently it is different in every park! I can't wait to go back one day and try out the California Adventure Park!

Festival Packing Tips

Image
Apologies for the lack of blog posts recently. I was away in Italy for a week then I had my graduation ceremony and am just back from working at a well known music festival. I worked at this festival last year also, when the weather was not as kind to us in Scotland as it was this year. Last year that particular weekend consisted of rainstorms which led the site to become a big puddle of mud. This year was so warm and gloriously sunny, so much so that I came back with a better tan/sunburn, than I did when I came home from Italy. Having worked through both of these extremes, here is what I have learned and would like to pass on to you: 1. Don't pack too much. Do not pack three different outfits for each day and 10 pairs of shoes for a three day festival. You will not wear it all. 2. Do not pack all of your favourite, most expensive possessions. They will get ruined. You will not need an ipad and a laptop. You will have to leave them in a tent, which lets face it, is an un

Wall of happiness

Image
Here is my newly renovated wall of happiness. This wall has been heavily laden with tickets for about a year now but is now completed. (Until I need to add something else). For those of you who don't know, a wall of happiness is where you basically put all things that make you happy. As the name suggests. I believe that everyone should have one of these walls. I am not one for minimalist decorating. I know where everything in my room is and feel that I am quite organised. But I like to keep things around me. Memories and pretty things. This wall in particular is filled with a lot of theatre related things. As I recent musical theatre graduate, I have seen a lot of shows in my time. These are the majority of tickets from shows which I have seen or been involved in over the past 5 years. It also includes cinema tickets, quotes, photos, little notes which make me smile and just general loveliness. My advice to everyone is to start building your wall of happiness now. You wo

Shoes of the day: Gold Sparkly

Image
I bought these shoes in Next last summer. Next have really nice shoes, I really need to make more of an effort to go into Next to look at shoes cause they have some really lovely good quality ones. I bought these for my parent's 25th Wedding Anniversary at a gorgeous place called Seamill near Largs. It is the best. It holds a lot of memories and is beside the beach. They had a ceilidh (my favourite), however, these shoes are not very ceilidh friendly. Actually, in my opinion no shoes are ceilidh friendly. Ceilidhs are made to take your shoes off and have a good dance. I was at a ceilidh last week and I got so annoyed that no one else took their shoes off. Here is the matching sparkly clutch. I also sang at that party and I nearly fell backwards in the middle of a song as they were so high. Walking in heels makes me look like bambi attempting to walk on ice. These are the prettiest sparkly shoes and I always receive compliments when wearing them. They make me feel

Picture of the day-Mr Frog

Today I along with two of my best friends went on one of our weekly walks. I want to keep fit and don't really like going to the gym so this is a good alternative. We met this little guy along the way but at this point I think he was playing dead as we all screamed so loud as he hopped across our path. (He's ok now, he hopped away after we took this picture :p) Love, Fiona xx

So yesterday I painted my nails. I'm trying to make a habit of painting my nails more, as I did a clear out the other day and realised I have a lot of nail polish. Perhaps too much. I just get so impatient waiting for it to dry. But here are my nails in the sky. My boyfriend and I went to a lovely local park, and sunbathed. In Scotland! Crazy, right? Sorry it's a little fuzzy. My boyfriend took it. Also I was wearing my new ring that I got in paper chase for 75p! It was reduced from £4 and I had been looking at it for ages and decided to treat myself. Unfortunately it broke later on in the day cause my boyfriend squeezed my hand too hard :p Here is a close up of my nails: The lilac colour is purple sherbet by Ciaté and the sparkly colour is white 314 (I wish they would think up more imaginative names) by Barry M and is part of the new sequin effect collection. The sequin one went weirdly lumpy on the opaque sections which was a little dissapointing as I'd been

My current hair product obsession

Image
As mentioned in a previous blog post, I am not a real ginger person. I actually dye it red. I know everyone in Scotland is actually ginger, but I am naturally blond and a few years ago I took the decision to go red. And I haven't looked back since. I suit being a red head so much more. However, it has brought some problems. Red dye fades the fastest, and all the upkeep is not only expensive but also bad for my hair. I use semi-permanent dye as I have heard it is better for the health of your hair and I get it done professionally as I find, for me personally, that it is less dry after a visit to the hairdressers. This product has really helped my hair in the past few months. Before using it, I found that my hair was getting tangled very easily. This hasn't been a big problem recently and I think it's down to this spray. On the back it says its a thickening leave it conditioner. I definitely think it has helped my hair to have more volume. I used to have such thick hair that

Review: Nardini's Glasgow

Image
The other day one of my Best Friend's turned 23. She is one of my oldest friends and I know she reads my blog so hiya Emma! Anyway, the point of this story is that she decided that what she wanted to do for her birthday day is have ice cream for lunch. Mmm mmm mmm. (This Emma is also my main walking buddy-the other feet featured in my picture in the post "Sun!!!"-therefore I think it is ok that we treat ourselves and eat a lot of sugar for a main meal as we have been doing a lot of exercise recently.) So, both of us and two of her friends from uni, went to visit a lovely little Ice Cream place called Nardini's in Glasgow's West End. It is situated in Byres Road, just opposite Hillhead Subway Station. We decided to be slightly good and the two of us shared a chicken and mediterranean vegetable toastie before the main event of ice cream. It was rather yummy indeed. I treated myself to a "Meringue Glace" Sundae. It had lots of meringue and sponge and vani

Review-Zara Office City Bag

Image
I realise that many people have this nag and that there are countless reviews on the internet but I thought I would give my take on it. I bought this bag at the start of the year-it was sold out in every store I went in to so I decided to get it online. It cost £49.99. I wouldn't normally spend this much on a bag-I tend to use one handbag all the time and I like to carry everything with me so they usually collapse on me after a couple of months-but I wanted to treat myself after working hard all winter and this bag has not given up yet. It has a few bits of wear and tear at the corners but I think that it understandable after all this time. As I already mentioned, I like to carry everything with me. I need a Mary Poppins bag. Whenever anyone needs something, I am the girl to come to-fully stocked pencilcase-check, tissues-check, curbis and bobbles galore-check, lint roller...-check, so I like a lot of pockets to keep some resemblance of order. This bag fulfills all

Mini Supermarket Beauty Haul and First Impressions

Image
The other day I was doing some food shopping and saw a couple of products I thought I would try out. Having just finished university, I have been trying to cut back on my spending and thought that buying cheaper beauty products would be a way to start! The first product I found was from Tesco. It is Pro Formula Radiance BB Cream in Light. This is developed specifically for Tesco (which I think basically means that it is an own brand product) and was around £5. I have combination skin and therefore bought the normal/combination formula. It has SPF 15 in it which will be great for when the sun decides to come back to us, or for when I go on holiday. It has Green Tea and Vitamin E Complex which sounds healthy and is hypoallergenic and they don't test on animals. Yay Tesco! Before this, I was using the green L'Oreal CC Cream. To be honest, I didn't really like that product and haven't yet finished it. I did ask the girl at the counter if it was just one shade and sh

What's in my handbag makeup bag and why?

Image
I love reading these types of blog posts because it means I can be nosy and see what makeup other people carry about with them on a daily basis and get some ideas from them. So here is what I have in the makeup bag in my handbag and some reasons for each product: Firstly, my makeup bag is from Emma Bridgewater. It was a present from my parents one Christmas and I cannot see similar ones on the website just now but you can buy Emma Bridgewater in many shops so you may be able to find one somewhere. It has really cute bright purple lining which makes it even better! 1. Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in Teal -I got this free when buying other Collection products at Boots. I really like it and it is a nice wee change from my usual black and adds a nice pop of colour. Sometimes I do a very thin line of black and add a touch of teal above it. It is very waterproof though so it takes quite a lot of effort to remove it. 2. Bourjois Liner Feutre in Black -I mostly always

Summer Wishlist

Image
I am lucky enough to be going on lots of lovely travels this summer, some are for work and some are just for holidays but I think I'll just need to treat myself a little (if I have any money left that is :p) so here are a few things I would love to be packing in my suitcase! Charleston Dress , £25, Asda I love the 1920s trend that is about just now due to 'The Great Gatsby' film. It is possibly my favourite era and I think this dress from Asda (yes, Asda the supermarket made this dress! Amazing!) is just perfect. I am going to Italy with my lovely choir and think this would just be lovely to wear with some little heels to stroll about beside the lakes. Brow Kit , £8.49, Sleek I am just about to run out of my brow pencil (I've been using Soap and Glory's Arc De Triumph for ages now and I do love it but I want to try something new), and I really think that keeping your eyebrows tidy, as annoying as that can be, is really important, as it helps t

Making Sushi!

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin So today, I made sushi for the first time. Not real raw-fish sushi, but candy sushi. (I really hate fish, I can't eat it-I wish I did, I love the concept of going into Sushi restaurants and taking the wee dishes off the conveyor belt.) My sister ordered a set from Amazon-something like this little one here and we waited for it to arrive in anticipation. When it came through the door we got straight to work. I had watched Youtube videos of people making them and had seen that some kits tasted better than others so I was a little worried, but as soon as we started putting the little sachets of powder into the water it smelt delicious! The instructions are in Japanese so we had to find some English instructions on the interweb. It worked so well! I was amazed seeing it all transform into various things in front of our eyes. We will definitely be ordering
